Ultra High Frequency, also referred to as UHF, refers to radio frequency ranging between 300 MHz and 3 GHz. The areas of communication technologies where UHF finds its wide application include television broadcasting, mobile phones, GPS systems, and WI-FI networks. This is simply because the frequencies in the UHF range provide a good balance between both their range and bandwidth to transmit large amounts of data over relatively short distances. Although UHF signals are more obstructed than lower-frequency signals due to other barriers like buildings and terrain, there is a whole slew of applications for over-the-air digital TV channels, two-way radios, and wireless, including a wide range that complement today’s telecommunications and entertainment systems quite considerably.
